Terms of Service Response
If I’m being honest, I’ve been hesitant about terms of service contracts since I first really got on social media back in high school. I do feel, though, that I definitely got less and less hesitant as I have become more comfortable with social media and apps for school. The Inside Edition youtube video has now made me realize that I should have some suspicion when given terms of service contract to agree to. The people in the video were so excited at the possibility of a new, free iPad that they didn’t even give a second thought to the contract. This was also a random booth on the street. I would have thought that people might be a little more hesitant about it being a stranger, but as a society, we are all so motivated by technology and the possibility of an iPad was enough for people to throw caution to the wind. Since so many people use technology now, the terms of service should be made available in a more, say people-friendly way.
I think without some sort of restrictions being put in place on terms of service contracts or making them more user-friendly, people are only going to grow more and more suspicious of technology, apps, and social media.
